Interview at “NEWS” by Antonis Itsiou, president of the Friends of Astronomy Group:
"We chose this area, for it is a dark place, at high altitude, isolated from light pollution that prevents good observation, as it is several kilometers from the surrounding villages. To offer quality and innovative products that reflect their Greek nutritional and gastronomic value at the final price, the facilities are good and able to accommodate the participants", Antonis Itsios emphasizes in "NEA"., president of the Friends of Astronomy Club, who undertook to organize this year's meeting.
During the three days, astronomy lovers will be able to attend classes and lectures, as well as workshops for observing and photographing the sun, the supernova search, recording meteorites, astrophotography, but also the selection of the appropriate equipment. In fact, a bazaar of astronomical items by amateur astronomers is planned for next Saturday. However, even the uninitiated will have the opportunity to observe various constellations and nebulae.
One of the highlights of this year's event is the presence as speakers of two important scientists in the field, of APTH physics professor Yannis Seiradakis and Greveniotis astrophysicist of the University of Chicago and longtime NASA collaborator Thanasis Oikonomou, who has baptized the regions of the planet Mars with the names of his place, which he explored using robots. "The program of the first two days is mainly aimed at those familiar with the subject, without of course this means that the laboratories are closed. What is certain is that on Sunday night everyone can participate in the star party, with which the meeting closes", emphasized Mr. The same.
