Preparing suitcases for America
The food production company Piteni Bros SA is preparing its wings for the other side of the Atlantic., which this year also strengthens its extroversion, while at the same time enriching its product range.
Piteni Bros., based in Kozani, already has a presence in Germany, Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland, Netherlands, Italy, Cyprus and Albania. The share of its production that is channeled abroad reaches the 16%.
The exports of the northern Helladic food company to the USA will start as a pilot initially through catering networks and then will make their way to the supermarket shelves.. The company also targets Japan, which is its next export target.
As the president and CEO of Piteni Bros. explains to "M", Dimitris Pitenis, the company did not feel the shocks of the financial crisis, as well as 2009 recorded increased sales by 9% touching them 2,4 million. euro.
For the current year, Mr.. Pitenis estimates that the sales of his company will reach 2,6 million. euro, as its export activity will bear fruit.
The company's products in Greece are distributed through supermarket chains, such as Veropoulos, Carrefour Marinopoulos, Atlantic.
Four brand names
The company is developing with four brand names:
– The salads, ointments, mayonnaise, cheese salad, seafood salads with the brand "Pitenis"
– Seafood and fish in oil with the brand Oceanos.
– The pickles are stuffed with the Mr Menios brand.
– Mustard dressing and ketchup with the brand name Diamond.
The business plan of Piteni for the two years 2010-2011 provides for investment 1 million. euros for the upgrade of the equipment of the unit in Kozani and for the creation of new products. The company recently created the luxury Oceanos Exclusive line, which includes smoked salmon, smoked eel, smoked octopus and fish pasturma. The series has debuted in the markets of Cyprus and Albania. The management of the company is in discussions, in order for its new cut line to be found in Greek supermarkets as well.
